Important limits
Automated scanning is not manual penetration testing
Deep Scan is not a manual penetration test. If you are budgeting for human-led testing, use our Australian penetration testing cost guide to compare scope, quote drivers and buyer questions. Deep Scan does not replace human-led testing where your organisation needs controlled exploitation, business-logic testing, authenticated workflow testing, source-code review or formal assurance. Automated external scanning is useful because it can cover common issues efficiently, but it cannot find every vulnerability and a clean result does not guarantee security.
The UK National Cyber Security Centre describes vulnerability scanning as an automated and cost-effective part of vulnerability management, while noting that it cannot match the breadth and depth of manual penetration testing.
